Launched in 2002 with yoga pants and tees (that’s where the name TranquiliT(ee) came from), I dreamed of a chic and comfy clothing line that aligned with my active lifestyle – quickly moving from yoga class to bookstore browsing to café dates.

A lover of style since my early days hiking Oklahoma hills donning a bonnet with purse in tow (see pic to the left), I fell in love with Units and Multiples (mix and match clothing) in my teen years.

In 2004 I took the tees and yoga pants a step further by adding trendy tunics and dresses to wear alone or over yoga pants plus armwarmers, legwarmers, luxurious wraps, and flowy, flattering designs to fit many bodies.

At Greenfestival this year, I shared the 10-year journey of TranquiliT to a small audience and captured the audio to share with Tranquility du Jour readers. One suggested resource I mention is The Fashion Designer Survival Guide by Mary Gehlhar. If you’re interested in launching a small, locally-made product business, I hope this talk with be inspiring to you, too.

I’m most proud of keeping the line locally sewn, planting 150 trees each month to help offset carbon emissions, and donating a portion of proceeds to amazing charities doing good work for women and the earth. Seeing women don the clothing for weddings, yoga, travel, and beyond always brings a smile to my face. I’m honored to be a small catalyst in helping women feel comfy and chic at the same time. Peruse our latest collection’s look book and tune in for a sprinkle of inspiration.

What beckons you to bring it into existence? Bisous. x
