growing up pops would pound away on his typewriter into the wee hours writing books and articles for publication. my childhood home’s shelves were stuffed with books and i developed a deep love for the written word {complete with my very own closet library and an addiction to scholastic books}.
yet the process of writing is akin to walking around naked. in public. unintentionally. it’s an opening up of one’s soul in a way that reveals {or blatantly hides} what is going on inside.
sure we can write about style, beauty, or home decor at a surface level, but there is always something deeper that flows through or somehow grants a stranger a sneak peek into your soul.
each time i sit down to write for this blog {that turned 9 last month!}, an e-course, a love note, or a tranquil space muse, i feel a blend of excitement and anxiety. what will unfold? what will be brought into the world that wasn’t already there? will it be coherent? will it make a difference? and on. and on.
the questions sometimes outweigh the answers. however, i write. i write because it opens my heart. writing somehow allows my soul to breathe. inhale. exhale. there is power in writing. in baring your soul. in being naked, in public, unintentionally on occasion. it breaks you open in a new way.
as i prepare to teach my next yoga + writing workshop tomorrow i’m reminded of the deep power in putting thoughts onto paper. movements are started. constitutions are brought forth. love notes are revealed. secrets are shared. agreements are made. how to’s are unveiled. thoughts are processed.
if you’re ready to bare your soul through the practice of writing, don’t delay. the world deserves to hear your voice. it’s unique and matters. bisous. x
