summer is the time when one sheds one’s tensions with one’s clothes,
and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit.
a few of those days and you can become drunk
with the belief that all’s right with the world.

hello gorgeous tranquilistas!
thanks for dropping in for a bit of tranquility. as you might already know, every other week i stop by to share a dose of signature style. in my last post, i mused on creating a personal brand and i shared a picture of my cubicle at work. this week’s post focuses on inspiring ideas to celebrate the weekend in a stylish, sparkly way – extra thanks to sweet caroline for her suggestion via twitter.

gather ’round the table.
my fellow guest blogger robyn michelle-lee puts together the most amazing posts on yummy treats, delicious dinners, and the value of a beautifully executed picnic at dusk. follow her lead and find bliss in preparing a meal for friends or sharing a glass of bubbly with a loved one over the holiday weekend.

treat yourself as you want to be treated.
do you sometimes find yourself at the bottom of your to-do list? do you prioritize work and chores over painting your toes pink or getting your eyebrows waxed? one of my favorite things to do over a long weekend is set aside time for journal reflection, quiet contemplation and decadent self-care. order yourself flowers, mail yourself a love letter, practice the golden rule on yourself.

go big or go home.
if you’re in the mood to go big, invite a group of your closest friends over to plan a mega-getaway for later this summer. consider a yoga & surf retreat in hawaii, a week-long camping excursion or skydiving. if a staycation is more up your alley, research your city’s summer events. check out a nearby art museum, catch an outdoor concert or plan a sex in the city marathon before going to see #2 in theaters.

take it off the mat.
remember to bring your yoga with you wherever you go this weekend. if you’re heading to an amusement park, practice tadasana (mountain pose) while waiting in line. if you’re heading to the beach, bring your journal for a little svadhyaya (self-study). namaste!
