Then the intimate, all-day TDJ Soirée: A Tranquility Masterclass happening Sunday, June 9 at Elizabeth’s (named #6 in best vegan-friendly restaurants around the world) in Washington, DC is for you!

After arriving to downtown Washington, DC  via plane, train, Lyft, bike, car, or on foot on a quiet Sunday morning, picture yourself walking into Elizabeth’s (named #6 best vegan-friendly dining around the world), an exquisitely-furnished townhouse built in 1880 filled with chandeliers, flowers, and love. You’re warmly welcomed, enveloped by live music, and given a goody bag filled with luxe treats.

Feeling excited about the day, you head upstairs to grab your spot and set down your personal items at the white tablecloth seating. Spotting the early morning nourishment, you savor green juice and a vegan almond ricotta beignet with ginger-orange marmalade while mingling with like-hearted guests before our programming begins.

The TranquiliT pop-up will be open to add any necessary locally-sewn, eco-friendly staples to your wardrobe. Our local seamstress will be available for tailoring while long-time TranquiliT aficionados will help you choose pieces that fit your lifestyle.

I’ll kick off the day at 10:30am with intention setting, a recap of the agenda, and the story about why I created this first daylong experience in over a decade. Then we’ll journal, explore our dreams, engage in a meditation, learn ways to deepen self-care, shed limiting self-beliefs, and contemplate what brings us meaning before lunch.

This highly-rated resto is known for its tasty and artsy vegan food (even among non-vegans). Imagine noshing on roasted garlic gnocchi with vodka flamed cherry tomatoes, cold smoked spring asparagus confit with toasted pecans, cold pressed heirloom beets with pistachios, spicy kale chips, and more! You’ll feel satiated, light, and energized.

And, yes, of course, there’s dessert: strawberry and beet sorbet with fennel foam.

Following lunch, we’ll return to inspiring programming that includes everyday activism, art journaling, incorporating creativity into daily life, and showcasing your signature style. The style portion will even include a mini fashion show to bring the concepts to life.

Before we launch into happy hour, Tim and I will record a live podcast with you as the studio audience. We did these during each stop of the 2013 Tranquility Tour and it’s a lively way to wrap up our day.

The event will culminate with small bites such as beet tartare, smoked parsnip soup sip, tomato sashimi, and organic red and white wine. Feeling refreshed with an action plan, happy belly, and open heart, you’ll hug me and newfound friends goodbye before heading to the airport or walking home.

This immersive day will provide a gentle mid-year nudge of support and inspiration to create and live a life you love. Filled with new material and oldie but goodie staples, this is the first full-day Tranquility du Jour experience I’ve offered.

Mix and mingle during arrival, on breaks, during lunch, and at our cocktail party. Connect before and after the event in our private Facebook group. Meet beforehand at Saturday’s meet and greet (VIP). Keep the momentum with an accountability buddy (VIP) and during our follow-up virtual gathering (VIP).

Nourishment
You’ll be fueled all day by plant-based snacks and libations including green juice, coffee, and tea. Nurture your inner foodie with a delicious, vegan lunch. Our happy hour wine is biodynamic, organic, and from sustainable small estates. Enjoy our self-care station to nourish yourself throughout the event.
 
Meaningful Tools
This all-day masterclass is filled with tangible takeaways to live a life you love. Deepen your understanding of the five TDJ Tenets (compassion, creativity, style + beauty, mindfulness, self-care). Learn ways to incorporate them into your daily life and experience more tranquility.

Creative Play
Work with ephemera (bits of paper), glue sticks, markers, scissors, and your creative spark during the event to create a visual representation of what you’d like more of in your life. Sure, you’ll want to take notes traditionally and you’ll also have space to dabble in art journaling your dreams.

FAQs

When and where is the event?

Sunday, June 9 from 10-6 at Elizabeth’s (1341 L St NW Washington, DC 20005).

What do I wear?

Think cocktail chic and wear something that you feel fabulous in! Keep in mind, black leggings and a comfy tee connotes cocktail chic to us. Also, layers are a good idea considering how temperature can fluctuate.

What do I bring?

Bring images or words you’ve pulled from magazines that speak to you, an open heart, and a beginner’s mind. We’ve got you covered with everything else, including food, drink, pen, paper, and goodies.

How do I get to the venue from the metro?

Elizabeth’s is located two blocks north of McPherson Square Metro station on the Orange and Blue lines. Walk out the 14th and H Street exit. Once on the street level, walk three blocks in the direction of L Street. Turn right at 13th and L Street. Elizabeth’s is the sage townhouse halfway down the block.

I don’t live in DC, how should I get there?

Make a weekend of it! I’ll provide an action-packed Saturday itinerary to help you explore my favorite DC spots on your own or join us for Yoga + The Animals. There are three conveniently-located airports around the DC area: Baltimore (BWI), Dulles (IAD), and Washington-Reagan (DCA). DCA is the closest to where our event will be held in downtown, Washington, DC. If you prefer train, Union Station is a convenient option. Arriving to DC via bus is also an economical option and there are many carriers to choose from.

Where do I park?

There is limited street parking around the venue. If you’d like a garage, one option is One Franklin Square Parking, located at 1301 K Street NW. Parking entrance is on 13th Street, next to the Fire House Station. The exact address of the garage is 1018 13th St. NW. If you’re staying at a hotel, it may be easier to leave your car there and take an Uber or Lyft to Elizabeth’s to avoid dealing with parking.

Where should I stay?

Consider an Airbnb or hotel within walking distance of our venue. One reasonably-priced, crimson-tinged Kimpton favorite, Rouge Hotel (1315 16th St, NW), is an 11-minute walk from Elizabeth’s. The Kimpton Carlyle Hotel (1731 New Hampshire Avenue, DC) is another Art Deco option within a 23-minute walk.

What is the TranquiliT pop-up and when is it open?

The pop-up will be located at the event and open throughout the day with the main shopping times during arrival, lunch, and happy hour. All credit cards, cash, or check will be accepted at the pop-up. There will be an assortment of pre-made items available for purchase, along with the ability to order any item through our made-to-order program.

Our local seamstress will be available for tailoring and long-time TranquiliT aficionados will assist with styling. I’d like to arrive a day early, what should I do on Saturday?

You’re welcome to join us for Yoga + the Animals for a Pigs & Pugs Project event at a nearby animal sanctuary. If you prefer to stay local, I’ll provide a detailed itinerary a few weeks before our event with suggestions on how to spend a full day walking around Washington, DC’s Dupont Circle neighborhood. Here are a few of my favorite DC spots.

I’m VIP, how do I choose the TranquiliT tee and Kimberly’s book?

Look for an email this spring requesting the information. We’ll have both waiting for you at the event, along with your VIP goody bag.

Is the event for all ages? Can I bring my child?

Due to the nature of the day and happy hour, the event is for women (or those who identify as women) and not suitable for anyone under the age of 21. However, infants or newborns are welcome.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Since the spot has been held for you, if you need to cancel for any reason, no refunds, exchanges, or credits are available unless your spot is filled from the waiting list. If someone from the waiting list is available to take your spot, you will receive a refund minus a 25% administration fee. If nobody is available to take your spot, no refunds, exchanges, or credits are available. You may transfer your ticket to a loved one at no cost by emailing us to adjust the registration.

I am so looking forward to attending the TDJ Soirée because Kimberly’s events are always a treat for the senses and a celebration of finding the extraordinary in every day. This is an opportunity for me to disconnect and indulge in self-care while feeling pampered in every way. Best of all is reconnecting with long-time like-minded community members and making new friends. I always come away from TDJ events feeling relaxed, inspired, and energized.

I’m so excited to be going to the TDJ Soirée! When I first saw the post about it I had a visceral reaction, I had to go!  The idea of being with the TDJ community in person, meeting like minded women, having an inspiring day of creativity with Kimberly, in a beautiful venue will be incredibly nurturing for my soul. This year is all about me saying yes to what inspires my personal growth, sense of adventure and fun. And this has all of that! I had to go! I was going no matter what! I bought my ticket! I am super excited for the Soirée! I always feel like I have given myself an important gift when I attend Kimberly’s events. I attended the writing week in Paris, as well as events in DC and was thrilled that the soiree seems to combine the two! This is a perfect mini-destination celebration, and a wonderful gift to give myself to kick off the 2nd half of the year! I had the pleasure of meeting Kimberly in Costa Rica and was drawn to her joy and lightness. I was also absolutely intrigued by the women who had come for her retreat and how they shared their delight to participate in Kimberly’s retreat. Kimberly’s wonderful vibe of no apologies for having fun and being vibrant drew me to her.  I am setting my intention for the June Soirée to find my own intersection of personal and professional work in a fun, creative, elegant and graceful way. I so wanted to join the Soirée, but summer plans and living in Oklahoma made it seem impossible. However, as I read of the people coming from all over the country, I decided there was nowhere else I wanted to be on June 9th.
