In 2016, I created this post on what to do while waiting for election results. Today’s the day many of us have been waiting for since that dark night and I woke up with a cocktail of anxiety, energy, and excitement.

Tonight will be long and while hitting refresh over and over is an option, I wanted to offer a few alternatives to combat the anxious energy.

  1. Walk your dog
  2. Write a love letter to Susan B. Anthony, Alice Paul, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucy Stone, Ida B. Wells, Frances E.W. Harper, and/or Mary Church Terrell
  3. Paint your nails red
  4. Soak in a lavender-infused bubble bath
  5. Organize a desk drawer
  6. Wear a pantsuit
  7. Order in your favorite meal
  8. Go for a run
  9. Pour a glass (or two) of bubbly
  10. Do yoga
  11. Dance this Election Day Spotify Playlist
  12. Take 10 deep breaths. Repeat.
  13. Dress in white to honor the Suffragettes
  14. Bake vegan cupcakes and top with red, white, and blue sprinkles
  15. Go for a brisk walk
  16. Rake leaves
  17. Write a letter of gratitude to a woman who has influenced you
  18. Document today in your journal
  19. Combat the isms: sexism, racism, classism, ableism, ageism, heterosexism, colorism, lookism, nativism
  20. Listen to classical music
  21. Meditate
  22. Make a list of gratitude
  23. Read an inspiring text
  24. Hug a loved one
  25. Write a thank you to an elected official
  26. Get involved with Women’s March
  27. Focus on what you can control
  28. Clean your WFH space
  29. Read about women’s history
  30. Watch Mrs. America or RBG

Above all, protect your mental health. Then hit refresh. Wishing you and yours a tranquil evening as the results come in. Fingers crossed.
