“the aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware.” – henry miller
as i handle last minute to-dos in preparation for my week away, i was inspired by this quote. it may seem as if you have to dash off to a silent retreat in order to become aware. however, awareness happens best when incorporated into your busy, hectic, crazy life.
here are a few suggestions on finding awareness:
deep breath while waiting for the bus
lovingly making a meal
feeling all the sensations in your body as you eat, drive, practice yoga
sitting still for five minutes, closing your eyes, and “being” during a busy work day
truly listening during each conversation – helping to make the other person feel very important
petting your cat or dog
cuddling with your partner
sipping a yummy glass of vino, champagne, prosecco, or tea
savoring a bite of chocolate
as a dash off to a country filled with tools for practicing being aware, i wish each of you a decadent week full of joyous, drunken, serene, divine awareness.
